Amit Shah Meets Auditor Gurumurthy: Strategic Talks Ahead of 2026 Tamil Nadu Elections

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is currently visiting Tamil Nadu, paid a visit this morning to the residence of senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan in Saligramam, Chennai, to offer his condolences on the demise of her father.

Following this, Amit Shah proceeded to Mylapore, where he visited the residence of Auditor S. Gurumurthy, editor of Thuglak magazine and a noted right-wing thinker and economist. He reportedly held an intense closed-door meeting for over two hours with Gurumurthy. BJP Tamil Nadu state president K. Annamalai and other key functionaries were also present during the discussions.

According to sources, the meeting focused on strategies for the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, and on how to counter the ruling DMK party’s political maneuvers. The BJP leadership is said to be actively exploring ways to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and public outreach in the state.

Although Gurumurthy is not formally part of the BJP, his influence within the Sangh Parivar and his understanding of Tamil Nadu’s socio-political landscape are highly valued. Amit Shah’s extended consultation with him is seen as a move to refine the BJP’s approach in Tamil Nadu, where it is yet to make a significant electoral breakthrough.

This meeting is being viewed as part of the BJP’s broader strategy to build momentum well ahead of the 2026 state polls, possibly recalibrating alliances, messaging, and campaign narratives to appeal to Tamil voters.
