Annamalai Consoles Family of Double Murder Victims Near Sivagiri; BJP Holds Protest Demanding Justice

A shocking double murder near Sivagiri in Erode district has stirred widespread outrage and fear among locals. An elderly couple residing in the Mekkaraiyan Thottam area—Balasubramaniam and his wife Muthulakshmi—were brutally murdered in their home. Following the heinous act, gold jewelry from the house was reportedly stolen, raising suspicions of a premeditated robbery-cum-murder.

In response to the gruesome incident, police formed 12 special investigation teams to track down the culprits. Despite these efforts, no arrests have been made so far, which has triggered public frustration and political reactions.

To condemn the delay in justice and demand swift action, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a protest in Sivagiri. Senior BJP leader and National Executive Committee member K. Annamalai participated in the protest and later visited the grieving family of the deceased couple.

During his visit, Annamalai met the couple’s son Kavisankar and daughter Bhanumathi to offer his condolences. As soon as Kavisankar saw Annamalai, he broke down in tears, overwhelmed by grief and loss. The emotional scene moved many onlookers, as Kavisankar sobbed uncontrollably while recalling the brutal murder of his parents. Annamalai comforted him by placing a hand on his shoulder and offered words of support.

Speaking to the media afterward, Annamalai strongly condemned the lack of progress in the investigation. “It is the government’s duty to ensure that justice is served swiftly. The culprits who committed this barbaric act must be identified and punished with the harshest penalties. This is not just about one family; it is about the safety of all citizens,” he said.

He also criticized the deterioration of law and order in the state. “When elderly citizens are not safe in their own homes, it reflects a serious failure of governance. We demand immediate action from the state government and the police department,” he added.

Annamalai further stated that the BJP will continue to raise this issue until justice is delivered. The party also plans to conduct awareness campaigns and protests across the region to press for stronger safety measures, especially for vulnerable communities.

The Sivagiri double murder case has triggered widespread public concern, with many questioning the effectiveness of local law enforcement and the state’s handling of such crimes. As the investigation continues, the victims’ family and the local community wait anxiously for justice.
