Annamalai Urges BJP Cadres to End Their Fast Following Nainar Nagendran’s Advice
Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai has appealed to BJP cadres to conclude their symbolic fast, undertaken as a mark of protest against the DMK government, following an advisory issued by the new state BJP president Nainar Nagendran.
In a statement posted by Annamalai, he said:
“With a firm determination to send home the anti-people DMK government currently ruling Tamil Nadu, many of us—including myself and several BJP brothers and sisters from Tamil Nadu—have been observing a fast for nearly four months by not wearing footwear.”
He further stated that he has now started wearing footwear again in accordance with the kind and respectful advice given by the newly appointed Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran.
Annamalai continued:
“In the coming days, BJP members from every part of Tamil Nadu must cross stones and thorns alike, travelling tirelessly and working hard for our mission.
Therefore, I humbly request all BJP brothers and sisters who were observing this fast with me to accept the advice of our brother Nainar Nagendran and conclude their fast.”
This statement highlights BJP’s continued focus on preparing for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and presents a unified front following the leadership change. It also serves as a symbolic transition from protest to active fieldwork under the new leadership.
