Various parties are expressing deep condolences on the death of Bahujan Samaj Party state president Armstrong who was brutally hacked to death in Chennai yesterday. Meanwhile, his supporters say that Armstrong, who passed away, led many struggles for the Dalit people and created hundreds of lawyers.
The murder incident of Bahujan Samaj Party state president Armstrong has become a topic of conversation not only in Tamil Nadu but also in the whole of India. Armstrong was speaking near his home on Friday evening when a mysterious gang of six men on two-wheelers brutally hacked him and escaped.
Armstrong, who collapsed in a pool of blood, was rescued by bystanders and admitted to a private hospital for treatment. There he died without treatment. The police have registered a case and formed five special teams and are investigating the incident which created a lot of excitement.
Meanwhile, the first phase of the investigation revealed that a mysterious gang dressed as food delivery workers hacked him, and eight people surrendered at the Annanagar police station. Especially since Ponnai Balu, the brother of Arkadu Suresh, who was brutally hacked to death in Chennai a few months ago, has surrendered at the Anna Nagar police station and is being investigated.
It is said that this murder may have happened as a revenge for the murder of Arkadu Suresh who was murdered last year. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin, Leader of Opposition Edappadi Palanichamy, TTV Dhinakaran, Seeman and other political party leaders have expressed their deepest condolences on Armstrong’s demise.
At the same time, there is criticism that the Tamil Nadu police and intelligence agencies have failed because the state president of a national party has been murdered. In the meantime, Armstrong, who was murdered, is basically a lawyer and has led many struggles for the downtrodden people and has created many lawyers, his supporters are sadly posting on social media.
Let’s see who Armstrong is and what his political background is. A lawyer by profession, Armstrong got along very easily with the locals. Although he was the state leader of the National Party, he was like an ordinary person, walking normally on the streets and interacting with people as people.
The son of Krishnan from Perampur, Armstrong was keenly interested in politics from his childhood. At the age of 14, he participated in political events during his school days. A lawyer by training, Armstrong has been active in politics since 2000.
Inspired by Ambedkar’s principles, he formed Dr. Bhimrao Dalit Association in 2006. In the urban local body elections held in the same year, he contested in the 96th ward of the Chennai Corporation and became a councilor for the first time. In 2007, he held a large-scale public meeting in Suktakara and brought Mayawati, the national leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party, to it.
He joined the Bahujan Samaj Party in the same year. In the 2011 Assembly General Election, he contested against the current Chief Minister Stalin from the Kolathur constituency and lost. He has been the state president of the Samajwadi Party for about 17 years and has been leading protests for the problems of a large number of Dalit people in North Chennai and in the suburbs.
And apart from being a lawyer, he is said to have created many other lawyers. He has helped the poor people and helped many more underprivileged and Dalit people study law through the lawyers he created. Every year more than hundred school students are enrolled in law colleges. It is said that they have also accepted the educational expenses for them.
Even though he has a specific social background, he is always seen in a white pant shirt and has a simple and sweet nature to interact with all the people of the society. His supporters are lamenting that his mind is as white as his clothes. It is noteworthy that there were many cases against him but he was acquitted from all of them.
