Court grants bail to Arvind Kejriwal arrested in Delhi liquor policy violation case. Kejriwal filed a bail plea in Delhi’s Rose Avenue Court. The court heard the petition and granted bail to Kejriwal.

On March 21, the Enforcement Directorate arrested Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the case of illegal money transactions related to the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam. After interrogation, Kejriwal was lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail on April 1.

Subsequently, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Kejriwal on May 10 to participate in the Lok Sabha election campaign. It also ordered him to return to jail on June 2. In this case, Kejriwal filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking an extension of the interim bail for another 7 days on medical grounds.

In his petition, Arvind Kejriwal said, “I have lost a lot of weight. If a person loses 7 kg weight in a month without any reason, it is a serious problem. So, doctors have recommended me various tests. They also said that only after all the tests are done, it will be known whether there is any serious disease inside or not.

So he demanded 7 days for me to surrender again in jail. The Supreme Court refused to hear his plea as an urgent case. The Supreme Court has already deferred judgment on Kejriwal’s plea against the enforcement department’s arrest.

As the Supreme Court had allowed Kejriwal to approach the concerned trial court seeking bail, the petition was ruled inadmissible. Kejriwal was again jailed on June 2. Meanwhile, Kejriwal filed a regular bail plea in Delhi’s Rose Avenue court.

The Enforcement Directorate strongly opposed the bail plea. His side argued that there was no evidence against Kejriwal. The judgment was adjourned for an unspecified date after both sides concluded their arguments. The court granted bail to Kejriwal in the case today. Kejriwal is expected to be released from jail tomorrow. Kejriwal’s release process will begin after the jail gets the bail order.
