Arya Babbar Emphasizes Sustainability on World Environment Day
Arya Babbar shared that he has removed single-use plastics from his everyday routine, including plastic bottles, grocery bags, and straws.
On the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, several television personalities have spoken out about their personal efforts to adopt eco-friendly lifestyles. Among them is Arya Babbar, known for portraying Kalikant Thakur in Jagriti: Ek Nayi Subah. The actor has made deliberate changes in his habits to lessen his environmental footprint—ranging from avoiding single-use plastics to adopting sustainable alternatives and motivating others to follow suit.
Speaking to ETimes, Arya Babbar said, “During a trip last year, I arrived at a mountaintop that I expected to be untouched and pure. Instead of fresh air and scenic beauty, I was faced with plastic litter and empty bottles. That moment stayed with me. It made me understand that even nature’s most remote locations aren’t free from human waste. Since then, I vowed to contribute to the solution.”
Describing his efforts, Arya mentioned that he has entirely removed single-use plastics from his daily life—such as plastic water bottles, store bags, and straws. To further cut down on trash, he now uses compostable trash liners at home and travels with a solid shampoo bar to avoid plastic containers even while on the move.
The actor explained, “It’s not about completely transforming your lifestyle overnight—it’s about making conscious decisions that lead to a cleaner tomorrow. I often talk with my friends and relatives about the small switches they can make.” For him, it’s about staying aware, being consistent, and taking part in a cause greater than oneself. Arya believes every little step matters—and waiting for change to come from elsewhere will only lead to endless delays.
Arya Babbar plays a key role in Jagriti: Ek Nayi Subah, a compelling story focused on a woman from the oppressed Chitta community who challenges deep-rooted customs to uplift her people. Her journey places her in direct conflict with a dominant leader linked to the mafia, paving the way for a dramatic struggle for reform. The show also features Rachana Mistry, Sagar Parekh, and Vijendra Kumaria in major roles.
