Bangladesh is on fire again… Will Hasina and Khaleda unite against Muhammad Yunus?

Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party have announced that they will hold nationwide protests against the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus. Due to this, tension is increasing day by day in Bangladesh.

Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh was forced to leave the country after intense student protests that took place across the country last year. Sheikh Hasina has been in exile in India since August 5.

The current interim government and the Bangladesh National Party at that time supported the student protests that led to Sheikh Hasina’s downfall.

Immediately after Sheikh Hasina left the country, the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus took over. Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League party has been weakened in her absence. In this environment, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s Bangladesh National Party is actively trying to regain power.

The interim government is expected to hold general elections by December. However, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party is pressuring the interim government of Mohammad Yunus to hold elections by August.

Meanwhile, the two arch-rival parties, Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League and Khaleda Zia’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party, have announced that they will hold nationwide protests against the Mohammad Yunus government.

The Awami League is planning to hold nationwide rallies, followed by a nationwide shutdown.

Similarly, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party has announced that it will hold protests against the government in all 64 districts of the country.

Sheikh Hasina, speaking at an online event organized by the Awami League’s student wing, had called for a protest against the interim government.

At the same time, hundreds of protesters armed with weapons entered the house of the late Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, following a call from the student body’s coordinator Hasnat Abdullah. They vandalized the pictures of Mujibur Rahman there. The house was set on fire. Mujibur Rahman’s house was demolished with the help of a crane and other machinery.

At the same time as Mujibur Rahman’s house was set on fire, the houses of Sheikh Hasina’s relatives and Awami League party leaders in Bangladesh were also attacked. As various incidents of violence continued, the government said that more than 1,000 people were arrested there.

Although the attack was said to have been carried out on the orders of Muhammad Yunus, a Dhaka City Police spokesman said that there was no information about it.

Sheikh Hasina, who has strongly condemned the attacks, has said that the country’s independence cannot be ended with a few bulldozers and that buildings can be demolished, but history cannot be damaged.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh National Party, led by former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, has said in a statement that the law and order situation is deteriorating under the interim government and that the culture of violence in the country must be controlled and law and order restored. It has warned that if the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus fails to maintain law and order, fascist forces will rise again.

The Bangladesh National Party, led by former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, has a clear plan to win the upcoming elections. It is also pressuring the interim government to hold elections on time.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that the students who led the protests that ended Sheikh Hasina’s rule are planning to start their own political party and are preparing to contest the elections.
