BJP Slams Rahul Gandhi After IAF Chief’s ‘Full Freedom’ Remark

The BJP has hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh credited the Modi government with giving the Air Force “full freedom” during Operation Sindoor—directly contradicting Gandhi’s claim that the Centre “tied the hands” of IAF pilots.

Operation Sindoor was launched to avenge the killing of 26 civilians in the April Pahalgam terror attack. Speaking on Friday, the IAF chief said there were “no restrictions whatsoever” from the political leadership and that forces had complete liberty to plan and execute. Six Pakistani aircraft were shot down in the operation, he added.

Earlier, during a special discussion in Parliament, Gandhi alleged the government had instructed pilots not to target Pakistan’s air defence systems, “tying their hands behind their backs.”

BJP leaders, including Amit Malviya, Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Kiren Rijiju, mocked and criticised Gandhi, accusing him of peddling misinformation and undermining India’s armed forces. Malviya also noted the “silence” in Pakistan’s media following the IAF chief’s statement.
