Atrocities in the virginity period – 5-year-old girl sexually assaulted and murdered: Accused shot dead
A horrific incident that took place in Uppalli area of Dharwar district of Karnataka has shocked not only that area but also the entire country. After a mysterious person kidnapped, sexually assaulted and then killed a 5-year-old girl, the culprit was shot dead by the police during an intensive investigation.
A couple from Yadavada area had settled in Dharwar. Their only daughter, a 5-year-old girl, was playing in front of her house on the day of the incident. When the mother came out of the house a few minutes later, she realized that the girl was missing and started searching in a panic. A little later, the girl was found lying lifeless with injuries in the toilet of a dilapidated house nearby.
Following this, the Ashoknagar police conducted a series of investigations. The surveillance camera footage in the area had recorded a video of a mysterious person. Based on that, the police arrested Ritesh Kumar (35), a daily wage worker from Patna, Bihar. During intensive interrogation, Ritesh confessed to kidnapping the girl on the pretext of giving her chocolates, then raping and strangling her.
After that, the police took him to his residence for questioning. There, Ritesh Kumar suddenly picked up stones lying on the ground and attacked the police, injuring Sub-Inspector Annapurna and two policemen. In the situation, Sub-Inspector Annapurna took out her gun and shot Ritesh Kumar in self-defense, the bullet hit him in the chest and he died on the spot.
This incident once again raises a question mark about the safety of children. It is an example of how serious legal action should be taken against the culprits.
