The Central Health Ministry has said that a committee will be set up to receive recommendations regarding the safety of doctors.

Protests have erupted across the country to condemn the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal. Especially in the state of West Bengal, medical services have been severely affected due to the doctors’ strike.

In this situation, representatives of medical associations including the Indian Medical Federation met the Central Health Minister in Delhi today and held talks. They then demanded that measures be taken to ensure the safety of doctors and health workers at their workplaces.

The Central Health Ministry has assured that a referral committee will be set up to fulfill their demands and receive recommendations regarding the safety of doctors. It is to be noted that all the representatives including the state governments will be invited to give recommendations to the committee.
