Chennai Grandmasters 2025, Day 3: Erigaisi in Hot Pursuit as Keymer Maintains Perfect Streak; Harika Opens Account
German Grandmaster Vincent Keymer extended his flawless run at the Chennai Grandmasters 2025, securing his third straight win at the Hyatt Regency on Saturday, August 9, to remain at the top of the Masters leaderboard.
Keymer made short work of Indian GM Karthikeyan Murali, taking his tally to a perfect three points. Hot on his heels, Arjun Erigaisi kept the pressure on with a convincing victory over American Ray Robson, moving to 2.5 points and leaving Robson stuck at 1.5.
Elsewhere in the Masters category, Vidit Gujrathi outlasted Nihal Sarin in a gripping four-hour battle, while Liang Awonder notched his first win of the tournament against Dutch GM Jorden van Foreest. Anish Giri was held to his third consecutive draw, this time by Pranav V.
In the Challengers section, Harika Dronavalli finally got off the mark with a draw against compatriot Adhiban B, ending her run of losses. Pranesh M defeated Iniyan P, and Abhimanyu Puranik continued his comeback with a win over Harshavardhan GB. The clash between Aryan Chopra and Diptayan Ghosh ended in a hard-fought draw, while Vaishali R suffered a defeat at the hands of Leon Luke Mendonca.
