Chhattisgarh School Principal Arrested for Taping Mouth, Assaulting Nursery Girl Over ‘Radhe Radhe’ Greeting
A school principal in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district was arrested for allegedly assaulting a nursery student and taping her mouth shut after the child greeted her with ‘Radhe Radhe’, officials said.
In a disturbing incident, a female school principal was taken into custody for allegedly hitting a three-and-a-half-year-old nursery girl and sealing her mouth with tape as punishment for saying ‘Radhe Radhe’. The incident occurred on Wednesday at Mother Teresa English Medium School in Bagdumar village under Nandini police station limits.
The child had reportedly greeted the principal, identified as Ila Evan Colvin, with a cheerful “Radhe Radhe”, which allegedly triggered a hostile response.
The principal, angered by the greeting, allegedly slapped the child, forcefully grabbed her wrists, and taped her mouth.
After returning home visibly shaken, the young girl narrated the incident to her parents. Her father, Praveen Yadav, approached Nandini Police Station and filed a complaint, according to India Today.
Police later arrested Colvin under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
“The girl is a nursery student in the school. The principal, Ila Evan Colvin, has been arrested under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 115(2) and 299, along with section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, for causing harm, hurting religious sentiments, cruelty towards a child, and related charges,” a police official confirmed.
