Chhetri Left Out! Khalid Jamil Names 35 Probables, Only 22 Join India Camp So Far
Newly-appointed India men’s football team head coach Khalid Jamil on Friday (August 15) announced a 35-member probables list for the Blue Tigers’ preparatory camp ahead of the CAFA Nations Cup 2025.
The training camp began in Bengaluru on Saturday (August 16) with 22 players reporting, while the remaining 13 will join after completing their Durand Cup 2025 commitments with their respective clubs.
India’s Schedule
Placed in Group B, India will travel to Hisor, Tajikistan, where they face:
- Tajikistan on August 29
- Iran on September 1
- Afghanistan on September 4
The third-place playoff and final are scheduled for September 8 in Hisor and Tashkent (Uzbekistan).

Goalkeepers: Amrinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Hrithik Tiwari
Defenders: Akash Mishra, Alex Saji, Boris Singh Thangjam, Chinglensana Singh Konsham, Hmingthanmawia Ralte, Rahul Bheke, Roshan Singh Naorem, Sandesh Jhingan, Sunil Benchamin
Midfielders: Ashique Kuruniyan, Danish Farooq Bhat, Nikhil Prabhu, Rahul KP, Suresh Singh Wangjam, Udanta Singh Kumam
Forwards: Irfan Yadwad, Lallianzuala Chhangte, Rahim Ali, Vikram Pratap Singh
The AIFF, in a statement on X, urged clubs to release players for this “crucial assignment,” which also serves as preparation for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers against Singapore (home and away).
Players Yet To Join (13)
Several key players are still busy with Durand Cup duties. Among them are:
- Mohun Bagan SG (7): Anirudh Thapa, Deepak Tangri, Lalengmawia Ralte, Liston Colaco, Manvir Singh, Sahal Abdul Samad, Vishal Kaith
- East Bengal (3): Anwar Ali, Nandhakumar Sekar, Mahesh Singh
- Jamshedpur FC (2): TP Rehenesh, Ritwik Das
- NorthEast United FC (1): Parthib Gogoi
The Kolkata derby between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal on Sunday will decide how soon several of these players can join the camp. Should Mohun Bagan reach the final on August 23, seven of their players may miss the entire camp due to the packed schedule.
