In the three years from 2022-23 to 2024-25, the central government has provided nearly $1 billion in subsidies under the PLI scheme. Of this, iPhone manufacturers have received more than 75 percent of the subsidy funds.
In the three years from 2022-23 to 2024-25, Foxconn, Pegatron, and Wistron have received a total of Rs 6,600 crore.
In this context, Trump, who imposed a 145 percent tax on goods exported to the United States by China, exempted only iPhones from the reciprocal tax. However, the United States has said that the 20 percent basic tax on electronic devices exported by China will continue.
As a result, it is said that the price of iPhones in the United States will increase. Apple is showing great interest in shifting iPhone production to India to control the price increase.
Already, in the current year, iPhones worth nearly Rs 1.5 lakh crore have been exported from India. India, the world’s second-largest iPhone manufacturing hub, is set to soon overtake the top spot, business experts have said.
