The new process of providing free corona vaccines to the states has come into effect from today.
From January 16 to April 30, the government procured 100% of the vaccines from the corona vaccine manufacturers and distributed them to the state governments. Private hospitals were then added to the program so that the corona vaccination program could be expedited.
Corona vaccination guidelines were revised last May 1. Accordingly, companies making corona vaccine in India were allowed to sell 50 per cent to the central government, 25 per cent to state governments and 25 per cent to private hospitals.
The state governments have appealed to the central government to raise funds for various problems in procurement and transportation of vaccines. Following this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the people on 7th announced that “75 per cent of the vaccines from manufacturing companies will be procured by the central government and provided free of cost to the states”.
Under this, the new practice of providing free corona vaccines to the states is being implemented from today. State Governments are advised to provide immunization to health workers, frontline workers, people above 45 years of age, those in need of second installment and those above 18 years of age on priority basis. make payment.
Vaccines will be provided to the states on the basis of population, corona exposure and implementation of vaccination programme. The federal health department has firmly stated that quotas will be reduced if vaccines are wasted.
Recently, in the announcement made by the Central Government, ‘Internet booking is not mandatory. You can directly go to the Corona Vaccination Centre, register there and get vaccinated. This new process has also come into effect from today.
Private hospitals charge Rs 780 for Coveshield, Rs 1,410 for Kovacs and Rs 1,145 for Sputnik-V in Russia. The central government has also ordered that only Rs 150 be charged for the service.
