New Delhi: Members of the Dawoodi Bohra Muslim community met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to express their gratitude for introducing reforms to the Wakf Board. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju was also present during the meeting.
The Dawoodi Bohra representatives stated that reforming the Wakf Board had been a long-standing demand of their community. They appreciated the Prime Minister and the central government for taking steps to bring greater transparency, accountability, and efficiency to the management of Wakf properties.
According to the community members, the newly introduced Wakf reforms are expected to improve the registration process, proper documentation, and protection of Wakf properties, while also helping to curb corruption. They emphasized that these changes are in the larger interest of the community and ensure that Wakf assets are utilized for the intended welfare purposes.
During the meeting, the leaders conveyed their appreciation directly to Prime Minister Modi, saying, “We have long awaited fair reforms in the Wakf system. Your government has listened to our concerns and taken action, which restores faith in the process.”
This meeting highlights the growing engagement between the government and minority communities over policy reforms that affect religious and charitable institutions.
