Denied a ministerial post, the Jankumar MLA has camped in Delhi with his son to get it. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case under three sections against his supporters who surrounded the BJP office.
In Puducherry, the NRC-BJP alliance won the assembly elections and came to power. Rangasamy became the Chief Minister and BJP MLA Selvam became the President. The cabinet did not take responsibility even after almost 50 days of the election.
Namchhivayam and Janakumar were earlier nominated as ministers in the BJP. MLAs in BJP demanded ministerial post for themselves. Thereafter, the details of cases against Janakumar started being sent to the top.
Notably, Jankumar owes the government Rs 38 crore and Rs 45 lakh in taxes. Two cases are pending in the Income Tax Department. In addition, appeals have been made in two cases. The chargesheet has been filed in a Pondicherry court alleging non-disclosure of factual information in the affidavit of Congress while contesting the Kamaraj Nagar by-election.
As many people have sent these details to the BJP leadership, the BJP has decided to give ministerial berth to Sai Saravankumar, who has been in the BJP for a long time and is currently in a separate constituency.
After this Jankumar left for Delhi with his son Richard MLA. Went yesterday (June 19) to meet the Prime Minister. But, permission is not getting. Thereafter, he met All India General Secretary Santoshji on the instructions of the Prime Minister’s Office. He said that he would wait for a year for the post of minister. In this connection, Jankumar is still trying to meet the BJP leadership on the second day (20 June) in Delhi.
Case in 3rd section
BJP MLA from Kamaraj Nagar constituency, Jan Kumar, his supporters gheraoed the BJP office in Pondicherry yesterday, tore banners and staged a sit-in protest demanding the minister’s post. The Retirement Police today registered a case against more than 20 people in three divisions for violating restrictions in the context of a pandemic.
I have nothing to do with the siege – Jankumar
When asked about this in Delhi, Jankumar said, “For the first time 6 MLAs including me and my son have won in BJP. The BJP leadership has said that the ministerial post will be filled. I have nothing to do with the siege. BJP office. I will not leave the BJP for this.”
We are not like Congress – BJP State President
When asked about the situation, BJP state president Saminathan said, “All the elected MLAs would like to become ministers. But it is for the party to decide who will be the minister.”
We are probing whether the protesters at the BJP office were Jankumar supporters or outsiders. If there is a party, it will take action. This phenomenon is not healthy.
Pondicherry, small state. It’s not a big issue. We are not like Congress. Intra-party issue takes place in all parties. Let’s talk and decide. We will recognize those who work. The nation, the state of Pondicherry is more important than the individual.
On the other hand, Jankumar does not need to worry about being emotional and talking. The BJP leadership will take an appropriate decision.”
