BJP state president Annamalai said that DMK is playing with the education of students.
In his X post about this,
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Kalo India program aims to identify talented athletes at school age, provide them with necessary support and training and encourage them to develop into world-class athletes.
According to this, the Government of Tamil Nadu, under the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority, is identifying talented school children, housing them in hostels run on behalf of primary level sports centers and providing them with education and sports training.
This year, the selection for school children who excelled in sports competitions was held in the first week of last May and hostels were announced for the boys and girls based on the sports competitions in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Vellore, Trichy, Tirunelveli in various places of Tamil Nadu.
Education seats should also be reserved for these students in the government/private schools in the towns where these hostels are located. However, it is learned that even after the opening of the schools, hostels and educational places for these students have not yet been confirmed. In particular, about 75 students selected from all over Tamil Nadu who excel in the sports of archery, badminton, cycling and table tennis have been announced accommodation at the Tamil Nadu University of Physical Education and Sports located in Chengalpattu district.
But the hostel is yet to be opened and these 75 students are yet to be allotted seats in any school. Two weeks after the opening of schools all over Tamil Nadu, these 75 students are still at home without any notification, unable to go to school and do exercises.
The DMK government, which has a history of neglecting to send students on behalf of Tamil Nadu to the national level school sports competitions, is now playing with the education of the students. The Tamil Nadu Sports Minister who is responsible for this is going around the town without any concern about this.
Annamalai has urged the DMK government to immediately open these sports halls, arrange facilities for the students to practice and allot all the selected school students in the best schools so that they can continue their education.
