DMK today protested against the 3 new criminal laws of the central govt…

A protest demonstration is being held today by the DMK Law Department in Chennai against the Central Government’s 3 new criminal laws.

Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code and Evidence Act have been passed in Parliament as new criminal laws under the name of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhinyam respectively.

3 Acts: These 3 new Acts have come into effect from 1st July last. However, states including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and various political leaders and activists are opposing these three new criminal laws.

It is feared that the three new laws which the central government has brought arbitrarily without consulting legal experts and judicial experts will cause unnecessary confusion and delay in the administration of justice. Judges, lawyers etc. are deeply dissatisfied with these laws.

Judiciary: The reason is that it is very difficult to read and prosecute these 3 new laws. Legal experts have also opined that this will cause a huge setback in the administration of justice by the trial courts.

Not only that, these changes in the law will cause a lot of confusion for the police as well. The reason is that 90 percent of the changes brought in the Indian Penal Code have been made in sections and sub-sections. Therefore, it is said that while registering a case, the concerned police officer may also get confused.

Judiciary: Judiciary points out another problem. The trial court judges are faced with the situation of having to hear the cases which are already registered and under investigation according to the previous law and the cases which are registered after July 1 according to the new legal sections.

Although the central government says that they are changing the law because it was brought in during the British era, it is believed that the new legal provisions related to armed rebellion, subversive activities, separatist activities or India’s sovereignty have been introduced.

Opposition: That is why many state chief ministers including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee are insisting on the immediate withdrawal of this Act.

Also, the DMK has decided to protest against this. In this way, the DMK legal department consultation meeting was held on June 29 through video conference… In this meeting, in the presence of the DMK legal department president R. Viduthai, state administrators and district organizers participated in this meeting led by secretary NR Ilango.

Comments: At that time, the 3 new criminal laws of the Central Government were discussed in detail in the DMK meeting. It was argued that these are against administration of justice, state autonomy, fundamental rights of people and will turn India into a police-dominated state.

Accordingly, it was decided in this meeting that the DMK legal department will hold a protest demonstration in front of all district courts on July 5th at 10 am and a hunger strike will be held near the Egmore Rajaratnam Stadium on July 6th from 10 am to 6 pm. Accomplished.

Disadvantages: It was decided in the meeting to hold a condemnation seminar and arena meetings across Tamil Nadu so that not only the lawyers but also the public would know about the disadvantages of the 3 criminal laws implemented by the central government.

In this way, while a hunger strike is going to be held in Chennai tomorrow on July 6 by the DMK lawyers’ team, a protest demonstration is going to be held today on July 5 by the DMK lawyers’ team. The DMK lawyer team is going to hold a protest in front of the district courts to demand the withdrawal of these new criminal laws by the central government.

Opposition to BJP: The day before yesterday, the DMK had already registered its opposition to the issue of NEET exam and had completed its protest, today BJP has taken up another protest against the government. In that way, BJP is closely watching every event of DMK.!!
