Everton Planning To Bring Jack Grealish On Loan From Manchester City: Reports

Everton are holding talks with Manchester City regarding a possible loan deal for Jack Grealish for the 2025–26 season. Financial conditions remain a major challenge, as Grealish draws £300,000 per week.

In a surprising development, Everton have started discussions with Manchester City for a potential loan move involving Jack Grealish, with the Merseyside club hoping to sign the England international for the upcoming 2025–26 season at Goodison Park.

According to reports by The Athletic, the club is examining the possibility of a season-long loan for the 29-year-old winger, though the deal is being termed complicated and far from confirmed. While Everton have shown sincere interest, the financial issues, especially Grealish’s salary, are expected to be a major stumbling block.

Grealish currently earns around £300,000 (approximately $400,000) per week at Manchester City—figures far above Everton’s usual wage budget. For the move to materialise, Manchester City would need to cover a significant portion of his salary, or Grealish would have to accept a large pay cut.

The ex-Aston Villa captain, known for his adaptability, can play either on the left flank or as a central attacking midfielder (No. 10), and would bring much-needed creativity to Sean Dyche’s side, who are looking to bounce back after recent Premier League struggles.

Everton Shift Focus After Tyler Dibling Deal Falls Through

Everton’s interest in Grealish comes in the wake of their failed £40 million bid for Southampton youngster Tyler Dibling. The Saints rejected the offer and countered with a demand for £45 million upfront, £5 million in add-ons, and a 25% sell-on clause, which may have dissuaded Everton from continuing talks for the teenager.

With the Dibling deal stalling, the Toffees have shifted their attention to more seasoned players—with Jack Grealish emerging as a top target.

Grealish’s Future At City Remains Unclear

Grealish still has two years left on his current Manchester City contract, but his role under Pep Guardiola has become increasingly limited in recent seasons. He made only seven starts in the Premier League during the 2024–25 season and remained an unused substitute in City’s FA Cup final loss to Crystal Palace.

He was even omitted from the matchday squad entirely for the final game of the season against Fulham, though Guardiola maintained that the exclusion was “not personal.”

Overall, Grealish featured for just 1,521 minutes across all competitions in 2024–25—the equivalent of 17 full matches—and his declining form also led to his exclusion from Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024.

In both the 2023–24 and 2024–25 Premier League seasons, he made only 20 appearances each, starting just 10 matches in both campaigns. His contribution in the most recent season—one goal and one assist—mirrored his reduced influence on the pitch.
