FASTag Made Mandatory for Vehicles Entering Tirumala from August 15
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has announced that FASTag will be compulsory for all vehicles entering Tirumala from August 15, 2025. The move aims to reduce traffic congestion near the Alipiri Checkpost — the main entry point to Tirumala — improve security for devotees, ensure transparency in toll collection, and cut down travel time.
As per the new rule, vehicles without FASTag will not be allowed to drive up to Tirumala. Devotees without it will have to park at the base of the hill and travel by bus. TTD has urged those travelling in their own vehicles to ensure FASTag is installed and active before arriving.
To assist visitors, a FASTag installation facility has been set up near the Alipiri inspection centre. Devotees are advised to get it fitted beforehand to avoid delays.
FASTag is an RFID-based electronic toll collection system fixed on a vehicle’s windscreen. When passing through a toll plaza, the tag is scanned, and the toll amount is automatically deducted from the linked account, enabling cashless and quick passage.
TTD officials say the initiative will help streamline traffic management and make the journey smoother for devotees, while also ensuring transparent payments — a system already in use across several national highways in India.
