The final report of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on the Waqf Amendment Bill was submitted to Speaker Om Birla.
Amendments were made to the Waqf Act, 1995, to remove the problems in regulating and administering Waqf properties. After the opposition parties opposed the bill introduced in the Lok Sabha, the bill was sent for scrutiny by the Parliamentary Joint Committee. The Parliamentary Joint Committee, headed by BJP MP Jagadambika Pal, deliberated in detail on the features of the bill.
After several rounds of scrutiny, the bill was finalized, and the report on the amendments and the final draft bill based on the amendments were passed in the Lok Sabha with majority support by a vote.
Subsequently, Jagadambika Pal and others submitted the final report of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on the bill to Speaker Om Birla.
