A wreath was laid at the grave of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, who helped India win the war with Pakistan in 1971.
He died on June 27, 2008 at Wellington Army Center in Nilgiris district.
On his 16th anniversary, army officers laid wreaths at his grave in Utagai.
