Grand Murugan Devotees’ Conference Held at Amma Thidal in Madurai: A Sea of Devotees Echoed with “Arohara” Chants
A grand spiritual event unfolded at Amma Thidal, Pandikovil, in Madurai, as the Hindu Munnani organized a massive Murugan Devotees’ Conference. This spiritually charged gathering witnessed the participation of thousands of Murugan devotees from across Tamil Nadu, uniting under the banner of devotion and faith.
The event was held to bring Murugan devotees together on a common platform. As a symbolic gesture, worship rituals were performed by devotees representing all six sacred abodes (Arupadai Veedu) of Lord Murugan. The venue reverberated with the powerful chants of “Arohara!” creating a spiritually electric atmosphere that overwhelmed everyone present. The massive turnout and intense devotion rivaled the famed Chithirai Festival of Madurai in scale and fervor.
The conference was graced by the presence of many prominent political and spiritual figures. BJP Tamil Nadu State President Nainar Nagendran, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and BJP National Executive Member Annamalai were among the key political attendees. Additionally, former AIADMK ministers R. B. Udhayakumar, Sellur Raju, Kadambur Raju, and K.T. Rajendra Bhalaji participated, along with senior BJP leaders, heads of Hindu religious institutions (Adheenams), and spiritual pontiffs.
The event began with a traditional “Pambai” performance, marking the auspicious start. One of the most touching moments of the evening came when young Surya Narayanan rendered a soul-stirring Murugan devotional song with his melodious voice. The audience was mesmerized, and many were visibly moved by the purity and power of his performance.
Later, Sri Ramananda Kumaragurubara Swamigal, the head of Sivagiri Aadheenam, delivered a spiritually enriching speech from the stage. As a mark of reverence, he was presented with a sacred “Vel” (spear) that had been offered in special puja at the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple during the Visakam festival. This moment symbolized the unity of temple traditions with the conference’s devotional spirit.
One of the artistic highlights of the evening was a dance performance by artists dressed as Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The performance captivated the crowd and beautifully depicted mythological themes through classical dance. The conference also featured several other programs, all of which kept the massive gathering engaged and spiritually uplifted.
Families, students, elderly devotees, and spiritual seekers came together in a celebration of devotion that transcended social, regional, and political boundaries. More than just a religious meeting, this Murugan Devotees’ Conference stood out as a spiritual movement, reigniting Murugan worship and uniting followers in collective prayer and purpose.
This event marks a significant chapter in contemporary devotional gatherings in Tamil Nadu, showcasing both cultural richness and spiritual depth, and reasserting the enduring power of Murugan devotion in the hearts of millions.
