Grand Welcome for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Sri Lanka: Honored with Guard of Honour and Cultural Reception

After successfully participating in the 6th BIMSTEC Summit held in Thailand, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Sri Lanka as part of his diplomatic tour aimed at strengthening bilateral relations in the region.

Upon his arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, he was given a warm and ceremonious welcome by six senior ministers of the Sri Lankan government. This gesture reflected the importance Sri Lanka places on its relationship with India, and the respect accorded to the visiting head of state.

Adding to the atmosphere of festivity and cultural pride, traditional Sri Lankan dancers performed vibrant cultural routines at the airport. In addition, members of the Indian-origin Tamil community in Sri Lanka gathered in large numbers to welcome Modi enthusiastically, waving Indian flags and chanting slogans in support of the Prime Minister.

Following the cultural reception, Prime Minister Modi was accorded a formal Guard of Honour, accompanied by a red carpet welcome in the presence of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The military parade and honours displayed Sri Lanka’s respect for the visiting leader and the strengthening strategic ties between the two countries.

President Dissanayake personally introduced Prime Minister Modi to the ministers and key dignitaries present at the event, paving the way for diplomatic discussions and bilateral meetings expected to follow.
