High Court Cancels Order to Seize Actor Sivaji Ganesan’s ‘Annai Illam’ Residence – Victory for Actor Prabhu
In a significant ruling, the Madras High Court has cancelled the earlier order to seize the iconic ‘Annai Illam’ residence of legendary Tamil actor Sivaji Ganesan.
The case was filed by a film production company named Dhanabakyam Enterprises, claiming repayment of a loan taken by actor Sivaji Ganesan’s grandson, Dushyant. Based on their petition, the court had previously passed an order to seize the ‘Annai Illam’ property as part of the recovery process.
However, actor Prabhu, son of Sivaji Ganesan, filed a fresh petition in the High Court stating that Annai Illam is his personal property inherited from his father, and that Dushyant holds no ownership or rights over the house. He requested the court to cancel the earlier order of seizure.
Justice Abdul Quddhose, who heard the petition, observed that the entire ownership of Annai Illam belongs solely to actor Prabhu. Accepting his argument, the judge quashed the previous order that had permitted the property to be seized.
Furthermore, the judge directed the Registration Department to rectify and correct any improper or misleading entries related to the property ownership in their records.
This verdict comes as a moment of relief for Sivaji Ganesan’s family and fans, ensuring that Annai Illam, a landmark associated with one of Tamil cinema’s greatest icons, remains rightfully in the hands of his heirs. The residence, symbolic of Tamil film heritage, is now protected by law from any external claims.
