ISRO chief Somnath has warned that there are lakhs of asteroids orbiting in this space, and if they collide with the earth, there will be a huge disaster. Somnath has warned that if an asteroid with a diameter of 100 meters hits us, it will destroy a country and if an asteroid with a diameter of 2 km hits the earth, it will destroy the earth as a whole.
ISRO has successfully implemented many space projects. Thus, no one can deny that India has a special place in international space exploration.
Asteroid: In the meantime, ISRO has embarked on the next phase of research on asteroids. Usually, the United States does most of the research on asteroids.
NASA has warned that there is a 72% chance that an asteroid will hit Earth on July 12, 2038, exactly 14 years from now. While this has created a sensation at the international level, ISRO chief Somnath has given some important information regarding these asteroids.
Somnath: ISRO chief S Somnath has said that the ISRO administration is conducting a study on these asteroids and how to destroy them and protect the earth even if they come close to the earth.
He added, “Now we are tracking 99942 Apophis, a 335 meter asteroid. It is considered to be a potential Earth hit. This asteroid will pass very close to Earth in 2029 at a distance of about 32,000 km. India has the capability to track this asteroid. How can we help save Earth from this asteroid?” We are in talks with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, the European Space Agency and the US NASA.
Earth itself will be destroyed: Even if an asteroid hits the Earth it will be devastating. We must take action to keep our planet safe. Even if an asteroid of around 100 meters in diameter hits us it will cause disaster.. the entire nation will be destroyed. If a 2 km diameter one hits us, the whole earth is in danger of being destroyed.
In the near future we will definitely be able to land a socket on an asteroid.. we can study the danger if that asteroid hits the earth and prepare for defense. We would like to collaborate on this issue with other countries and organizations that already have this capability.

“There are lakhs of asteroids in the space. Most of them are between Mars and Jupiter. Although they are small in size, if they collide with the earth due to their speed, they will have a very bad impact. Therefore, the study of this is important to protect the earth,” he said.
