India’s ‘Operation Sindhoora’: Detailed Report on the Airstrikes on 9 Terror Camps
On May 22nd, a brutal terrorist attack took place in Pahalgam, a tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district. This heinous assault claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists and sent shockwaves across the nation. In response, Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the attack and assured the public that an appropriate and strong retaliation would follow.
Subsequently, high-level consultations were held involving the Defence Minister, National Security Advisor, the Chief of Defence Staff, and top officials from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. These discussions culminated in a strategic counter-offensive mission codenamed “Operation Sindhoora.”
As part of this mission, the Indian Air Force carried out a series of targeted airstrikes on nine terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). These camps were identified as training centers, hideouts, or operational bases for various terrorist outfits, and the strikes were aimed at crippling their infrastructure and capabilities.
The nine terrorist locations targeted in the strikes are as follows:
- Markaz Subhan Allah – Bahawalpur
This facility is a key base of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), led by the notorious terrorist Masood Azhar. It has been used for training and strategizing terror attacks in India. - Markaz Taiba – Muridke
The headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), one of the deadliest terror outfits responsible for several attacks, including the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Muridke is considered a fortified location. - Sargel / Tehra Kalan
Known for its terror training camps and arms depots. It has been used to groom new recruits for infiltration across the Line of Control. - Mehmuna Joya Facility – Sialkot
A residential and operational hub for terrorists. Intelligence reports suggested it also stored weapons and explosives. - Markaz Ahl-e-Hadith – Barnala, Bhimber
A radical Islamic training center associated with extremist ideologies and military-style training. - Markaz Abbas – Kotli
A key logistical base, used to house terrorists and store ammunition. - Maskar Raheel Shaheed – Kotli District
A large-scale training and safehouse facility for fighters of JeM and Hizbul Mujahideen. - Shawai Nalla Camp – Muzaffarabad
One of the oldest and most strategically important camps, actively used for cross-border operations. - Markaz Sayyedna Bilal
A planning and surveillance hub used for monitoring Indian border activities and coordinating terror strikes.
The airstrikes were executed with precision by the Indian Air Force, dropping bombs and missiles on the specified locations. All strikes were conducted during optimal weather and intelligence windows to ensure maximum impact and minimal collateral damage.
This operation is a clear message that India will not tolerate terrorism and is fully prepared to defend its citizens and territory. The success of Operation Sindhoora marks a significant moment in India’s counter-terrorism strategy, showcasing strength, resolve, and global leadership in fighting terrorism.
