An unprecedented 86.16 lakh people were vaccinated against corona in a single day in India. This figure is the ‘record number of vaccinations in a single day’ worldwide.
There are two types of vaccines being given in India, Covacin and Coveshield. Apart from this, the Sputnik 5 vaccine made in Russia has also been approved.
The corona vaccination program was started in India on 16 January. Initially, the vaccine was given to medical and health care workers as well as people over the age of 60.
The second phase is to vaccinate all people above 45 years of age, including those with co-morbidities.
In the third vaccination program, everyone above the age of 18 is given the corona vaccine. Subsequently, the federal government announced that everyone over the age of 18 would be vaccinated free of charge.
This scheme has come into effect from yesterday. An unprecedented 86.16 lakh (86,16,373) people were vaccinated against corona on the first day. According to the federal health ministry, this is the world’s record number of one-day vaccinations.
It is noteworthy that the central government has set a target to vaccinate one crore people in a day. By the end of December this year, the target is to vaccinate all people above the age of 18 years in India against the corona vaccine.
