Central Home Minister Amit Shah has said that June 25 will be observed as Constitution ‘Massacre’ Day every year.
In his press release,
On June 25, 1975, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency by strangling the throat of democracy with a dictatorial attitude.
Central Minister Amit Shah said in the press release that despite no wrongdoing, lakhs of people were jailed during the Emergency and the voice of the media was suppressed.
Amit Shah said that the Central Government has decided to observe June 25 as the Constitutional ‘Massacre’ Day every year and remember the people who suffered inhumanely during the Emergency.
