Chief Justice D.Y.Chandrachud has emphasized that legal education should be taught not only in English but also in regional languages.

Participating in the graduation ceremony of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, he said that during his tenure as a judge in the Bombay High Court, even though all the records were in Marathi, the court proceedings were conducted in English.

But D.Y.Chandrachud noted that when he shifted to the Allahabad High Court, the lawyers had to see arguments in Hindi and the skills of the lawyers emerged when arguing in the regional language.

Therefore, he insisted on inclusion of regional languages along with English in the legal education curriculum.
