NBTC, a construction company in the Gulf country of Kuwait, employs people from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Egypt and the Philippines. Most of the employees in the company are from India, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Uttar Pradesh. 195 people working in this construction company were staying in an apartment in Mangab.

On the 11th, a sudden fire broke out in an apartment building and the area became a smoke zone. As it was early in the morning, many who were fast asleep died of suffocation. It is said that many others have died of serious injuries when they jump down from the floors in fear of their lives.

It has been reported that nearly 190 people were staying illegally in the flat with a maximum capacity of 100 people and the accident occurred due to the explosion of a gas cylinder used for cooking on the lower floor. Also, it is said that 6 gas cylinders were kept without permission in the maintenance room on the ground floor and its explosion may be the cause of this terrible fire.

Indian Ambassador Adarsh, who came to know about the accident, visited the apartment building where the fire broke out and met the seriously injured who were hospitalized and offered condolences.

It has been revealed that 24 of the victims of the Korat fire are from Kerala. The Kerala government has announced that the families of the victims belonging to the state of Kerala will be given a relief of Rs 5 lakh each.

Similarly, Ramu Karuppanan from Tennavanur in Ramanathapuram district, Chinnadurai Krishnamurthy from Cuddalore, Mohammad Sharif from Villupuram, Richard Roy, Veerasamy Mariappan from Thoothukudi, Sivashankar and Raju Ebenesar have all died in the fire accident, the Kuwait Tamil Association has reported. The Tamil Nadu government has ordered a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of those who died in the fire accident. He also said that the government will bear the medical expenses of the injured Tamils.

Meanwhile, PM Modi held discussions with top ministers and officials regarding the Kuwait fire incident. At that time, Prime Minister Modi condoled the fire incident. Also, it was decided in the meeting to provide relief of 2 lakh rupees each to the families of the Indians who died in the fire accident and 50 thousand rupees each to the injured.

The Union Ministry of External Affairs is involved in bringing the bodies of the deceased to India. Union Minister of State Kirti Varadhan Singh has gone to Kuwait and brought back the bodies of 45 Indians by Indian Air Force aircraft.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Union Minister Suresh Gopi, BJP State President Surendran, Tamil Nadu Minister Senji Mastan and others paid tributes to the 45 bodies that arrived at Kochi Airport. Following this, the bodies were sent to their native towns by ambulance. Many people have insisted on putting pressure on the Kuwaiti government to take action against those responsible for the accident.
