A low pressure area formed in the central western Bay of Bengal on Sunday.
An official of the Chennai Meteorological Center said:
A low pressure area has formed in the central and western parts of the Bay of Bengal and northern Andhra Pradesh, southern Odisha. This, in turn, is unlikely to strengthen. Also, it crosses the land between Andhra Pradesh-Odisha coast.
Due to this low pressure area, the chance of rain in the coastal and inland districts of Tamil Nadu will be greatly reduced. At the same time, the southwest monsoon is expected to intensify, with heavy rainfall expected in the western districts, he said.
