Macau Open: Ayush Shetty Advances To Quarterfinals, Dhruv Kapila–Tanisha Crasto Progress To Round Of 16

Ayush Shetty cruised past Huang Yu Kai with a 21-10, 21-11 victory, while the duo of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto comfortably defeated Thailand’s Ratchapol Makkasasithorn and Nattamon Laisuan 21-10, 21-15 to move into the Round of 16.

Indian badminton player Ayush Shetty entered the quarterfinals of the Macau Open BWF Super 300 tournament on Wednesday following his straight-set win over Huang Yu Kai. Meanwhile, mixed doubles pair Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto advanced to the Round of 16 after a clinical victory over Ratchapol Makkasasithorn and Nattamon Laisuan.

Shetty wrapped up the match against Chinese Taipei’s Huang in straight games, securing a 21-10, 21-11 win in just over 30 minutes. Kapila and Crasto, too, dominated their 26-minute match, defeating their Thai opponents 21-10, 21-15.

Kapila and Crasto are now scheduled to face the Malaysian combination of Lai Pei Jing and Wong J in the next round, while Shetty is set to meet Justin Hoh.

Sathish Kumar Karunakaran’s campaign in men’s singles came to an end after he went down to Malaysia’s Justin Hoh in the pre-quarterfinals with a scoreline of 19-21, 12-21 in a 37-minute contest.

India faced yet another setback in mixed doubles as the 34th-ranked pair of Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde lost to Chinese Taipei’s Wu Guan Xun and Lee Chia Hsin 20-22, 17-21 in a 37-minute battle.
