The Madras High Court has ordered the Revenue Secretary, Commissioner and 3 District Collectors to appear in person in the contempt of court case. The court judge has also warned that a warrant will be issued if he does not appear on July 27.
The Madras High Court had ruled that the government employees selected by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Selection Commission (TNPSC) should be promoted on the basis of marks. The Supreme Court heard the case filed against this judgment and upheld the judgment of the High Court.
But in Krishnagiri, Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram districts, Deputy Tahsildars were promoted to Tahsildar on the basis of reservation. Against this, Deputy Tahsildar S. Srinivasan from Chengalpattu district, Deputy Tahsildar Velu from Krishnagiri district filed a case in Madras High Court.
The High Court heard the case and ordered to quash the order of promotion of tahsildar under reservation system. However, the Deputy Tahsildars filed a contempt of court case for non-implementation of this order of the court.
When these cases came up for hearing before Justice GK Elandraiyan, Revenue Secretary V. Rajaraman, Commissioner SK Prabhakar, Krishnagiri District Collector KM Sarayu, Kancheepuram District Collector Kalachelvi Mohan, Chengalpattu District Collector S. Arunraj on the 27th. He ordered them to appear in person.
Also, if the officers do not appear in person on that day, Justice Ilanthirayan also verbally warned that an arrest warrant will be issued against the officers.
