Maharashtra Man Kills Childhood Friend by Smashing Head With Stone During Drinking Session Over Money
The accused has been identified as Pratap Rajendra Chavan, while the deceased is Mayur Sachin Sathe. Both were 24 years old and had been close friends since childhood.
A 24-year-old man allegedly murdered his childhood friend by smashing his head with a stone following a quarrel over money during a drinking session in Maharashtra’s Sangli district.
The incident occurred late on Wednesday night in the Kupwad industrial area.
The accused, Pratap Rajendra Chavan, and the deceased, Mayur Sachin Sathe, both aged 24, were reportedly close friends from childhood.
According to the police, the duo had been consuming alcohol together throughout the day. During the evening, Sathe allegedly attempted to take money from Chavan’s pocket without permission. This sparked a heated argument between the two, during which Chavan picked up a stone and struck Sathe’s head forcefully. The blow was so intense that Sathe died on the spot due to a severe head injury, NDTV reported.
Soon after the incident, Chavan surrendered himself at the Kupwad police station and confessed to the crime, explaining the sequence of events that led to the fatal confrontation.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case under relevant sections, and a detailed investigation is currently in progress. The deceased’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
