Man Who Was Slapped on IndiGo Flight Goes Missing, Later Found at Railway Station

Passenger from Assam located at Barpeta station after viral video and police search

A man who was slapped during an altercation aboard an IndiGo flight and later went missing has been found at a railway station, bringing an unusual and concerning episode to a close.

The passenger, identified as Hussan Ahmed Majumdar from Assam’s Cachar district, was travelling on IndiGo flight 6E138 from Mumbai to Kolkata. According to reports, he experienced a panic attack while onboard and requested to deboard the flight. As cabin crew members were assisting him, another passenger slapped him suddenly, an act that was captured on video and widely circulated online.

The assaulter, named Hafijul Rahaman, was taken into custody by security staff once the flight landed in Kolkata and was handed over to local police.

The incident took a more serious turn when Hussan’s family arrived at Silchar airport, expecting to receive him—but he was nowhere to be found. Initially unaware of the onboard incident, they only learned about it after seeing the viral video. They attempted to reach him, but his phone was switched off, according to his father, Abdul Mannan Majumdar.

With no sign of Hussan either on the connecting flight to Silchar or anywhere outside Kolkata airport, the family filed a missing person complaint. Police investigations later traced him to Barpeta railway station, where he was found in an unwell and disoriented state. Authorities are now facilitating his return home.

IndiGo Responds to the Incident

Following public outcry and media attention, IndiGo issued a formal statement regarding the matter.

“In line with our commitment to discourage such unruly behaviour onboard flights, the individual (assaulter) has been suspended from flying on any IndiGo flights, in accordance with regulatory provisions,” the airline said.

It further added, “At IndiGo, the safety and well-being of our customers and crew remain our foremost priority.”

The incident has once again raised concerns about passenger conduct, mental health support during flights, and the need for better onboard intervention protocols.
