Monks have raised their voices against social evils… President Draupadi Murmu

President Draupadi Murmu has said that saints have raised their voices against social evils.

President Draupadi Murmu participated in a grand wedding function organized by Shri Bageshwar Jan Seva Samiti in Katha, Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh today.

Addressing the wedding function, the President said,

At a time when our country is currently moving from a state of women development to a state of women-led development, we all need to contribute to making our daughters and sisters strong and capable.

He stressed that people should focus on education, health and safety of women. He said that our small efforts will empower them. He also advised women to make continuous efforts for their education and self-confidence.

In our tradition, saints have guided people for centuries, the President said. They have raised their voices against the social evils prevailing in contemporary society. He said they also raised their voices against discrimination on the basis of caste and gender.

Guru Nanak, Saint Ravidas, Saint Kabir Das, Mirabai or Chand Tukaram, all of them have inspired people to follow the straight path through their teachings.

Their contribution to Indian society has earned them a place of respect. He said contemporary spiritual leaders can play a vital role in creating a self-reliant, harmonious and environmentally friendly India.
