Mumbai Beats Delhi by 12 Runs in IPL 2025 Thriller

In an exciting IPL 2025 match today, Delhi Capitals faced Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Delhi won the toss, and their captain, Axar Patel, chose to bowl first.

Mumbai’s opening batsmen, Rohit Sharma and Riki Wessels, took to the field. Rohit Sharma, who has been struggling this season, failed once again and was dismissed for just 18 runs. Next, Suryakumar Yadav joined Riki Wessels, and the duo formed an aggressive partnership, adding 60 runs before Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for 40 runs. Wessels was also out for 41 runs, and then Mumbai’s captain, Hardik Pandya, fell for just 2 runs.

Tilak Varma’s brilliant knock of 59 runs led Mumbai’s charge, while Namman Thirum’s 38 runs further strengthened their total. By the end of 20 overs, Mumbai had reached 205/5, with Wessels and Jacks contributing a single run each. Delhi’s Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nikam took two wickets each.

Chasing 206 runs, Delhi’s opening batsmen, Jack Prasher and Abhishek Porel, came to the crease. Unfortunately, Prasher was dismissed off the very first ball, sending a shockwave through Delhi’s batting. Abhishek Porel and Karun Nair then formed a strong partnership, with Nair playing a fiery knock, smashing 50 runs off just 22 balls, helping increase Delhi’s run rate. However, Nair was dismissed for 89 runs (off 40 balls), leaving Delhi struggling to keep up with the required pace.

KL Rahul (15), Axar Patel (9), Vipraj Nikam (14), Asutosh Sharma (17), and Kuldeep Yadav (1) all fell in quick succession, and Delhi’s innings collapsed rapidly. By the 19th over, Delhi was all out for 193 runs, losing by 12 runs.

Mumbai’s Karan Sharma was the star bowler, taking 3 wickets. Mitchell Santner claimed 2 wickets, while Bumrah and Deepak Chahar took one each. This victory marked Mumbai’s second consecutive win in the tournament, taking them to 7th place in the points table with 4 points, while Delhi dropped to second place.
