The Niti Aayog meeting is being held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi despite the boycott by the leaders of the India alliance. Mamata Banerjee will participate in this meeting.
The Niti Aayog meeting will be held in Delhi today (Saturday) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi. The Chief Ministers of all the States and Central Territories have been invited to attend this meeting. Only a few Central Territories have invited Deputy Governors. According to reports, the meeting will discuss the ‘Vixit Bharat 2047’ plan to make India a developed country.
Meanwhile, the leaders of the India Alliance alleged that Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and other opposition-ruled states were ignored in the Central Budget tabled in Parliament on the 23rd. Following this, it was announced that India Alliance leaders would boycott the Niti Aayog meeting to protest the budget.
Prior to this announcement, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mu Ka Stalin had announced that he would not attend the Niti Aayog meeting. Following him, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sugu and others announced that they will boycott the Niti Aayog meeting. However, will West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is a member of the India alliance, boycott the Niti Aayog meeting? was a question mark.
Mamata Banerjee announced yesterday that she will participate in the Niti Aayog meeting. Speaking to reporters at the Kolkata airport before leaving for Delhi, Mamata said, “I will attend the Niti Aayog meeting and express my opposition and condemnation of the discriminatory budget.”
He further said, “They asked me to send my written speech 7 days before the meeting. Accordingly, I sent my speech. I mean, I sent my speech even before the Central Budget was presented. Now to deliver my speech in the meeting is a conspiracy to divide Bengal and its neighboring states, prejudice against opposition-ruled states. And if I get a chance to register my protest against political bias, I will leave the meeting,” he said.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Kandu and Deputy Chief Minister Sawna Mein have also announced that they will attend the Niti Aayog meeting. The state government has announced that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will not attend the Niti Aayog meeting. However, it is reported that this decision was taken before the budget and Pinarayi Vijayan had already sent a letter to Prime Minister Modi about not being able to attend the meeting. Meanwhile, state finance minister Balagopal will attend the meeting instead of the chief minister, according to reports.
