Noida Family’s Cab Ride Turns Frightening as Driver Speeds to Evade Police; Video Goes Viral
A routine cab ride from Noida to Delhi turned into a terrifying ordeal for a family after the driver allegedly sped off to avoid a police check, putting all passengers at risk.
The incident surfaced after Sanjay Mohan, one of the passengers, shared videos of the ride on social media platform X on Thursday. Mohan was travelling with his wife and daughter from Greater Noida West to Connaught Place when the incident occurred.
According to Mohan’s post, the Uber cab was flagged by a police interceptor near Parthala Bridge, but instead of stopping, the driver allegedly accelerated and drove recklessly.
In his post, Mohan wrote:
“A horrible experience with @Uber @Uber_Support. Today me and my family were en-route to CP from Noida. Near Parthala Bridge, a police interceptor asked the driver to stop, but he didn’t and tried to escape.”
The videos quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention and criticism of the driver’s actions. In one clip, Mohan and his wife can be heard pleading with the driver to stop, with his wife warning that their daughter was scared and urging him to slow down. After several tense moments, the cab eventually stopped, allowing the family to exit safely. Mohan also alleged that the taxi had been involved in a prior collision.
Police Response
Responding to the viral video, Greater Noida West Police acknowledged the incident on X, stating:
“While traveling from Noida to Delhi, a family’s cab was signaled to stop at an intersection for a police check. Due to incomplete documents, the driver sped up. The family kept crying and pleading to stop the vehicle.”
However, it remains unclear whether any formal complaint has been lodged or if action has been taken against the driver. The police statement did not confirm whether the driver has been traced or penalised.
