North Korea sentences 30 children to death for watching South Korean dramas

Death Penalty: Meanwhile, North Korean authorities have reportedly sentenced 30 middle school students to death for watching these banned programs. It has caused a lot of international uproar. In this regard, a South Korean Unification Ministry official said, “They have sentenced 30 people to death. This is unacceptable. They have imposed this death sentence based on 3 laws.”

This is not the first time North Korea has imposed death sentences for minor offenses. It is noteworthy that in the past, North Korean youths have been executed even for watching TV.

Harsh Punishment: The North Korean government has been toughening the punishments for the past few years. Previously, delinquent youths were sent to labor camps instead of prisons. Their sentence will be less than five years. But now, the trend is said to be increasing, with sentences ranging from 12 years imprisonment to death.
