Dhinakaran has questioned why the DMK is refusing to implement the old pension scheme for government employees even after 3 years of coming to power.

Tamil Nadu government employees and teachers have been continuously demanding that the contributory pension scheme in force in Tamil Nadu should be abolished and the old pension scheme should be implemented. Emphasizing this, they have been participating in protests from time to time.

Before the elections, the DMK had promised to implement the old pension scheme if it came to power. Even after 3 years of coming to power, this promise has not been fulfilled. In this case, Finance Minister Thangam Tennarasu gave an answer to this request in the Assembly recently.

A committee was set up to look into the feasibility of implementing the old pension scheme for government employees. He said that the committee is consulting with organizations including the Pension Regulatory Development Authority. In this situation, AAMK General Secretary TTV Dinakaran has criticized the DMK government as not ready to implement the old pension scheme.

In this regard, the General Secretary of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, TTV Dhinakaran, posted on his social media page, “It has been reported in the newspapers that Tamil Nadu Finance and Human Resource Management Minister Thangam has said in the Southern Legislative Assembly that it is the government’s policy decision to re-implement the old pension scheme for government employees and that the study reports received in this regard are under consideration by the government.

It is clear that the government is not ready to implement the old pension scheme, which is becoming a constant story of questions being raised regarding the old pension scheme in every legislative session and the minister giving an answer without any progress.

DMK promised in the election manifesto before coming to power that the new pension scheme for government employees would be abandoned and the old pension scheme would be implemented again.

In the states of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh, the promises regarding the old pension scheme given before the elections have been fulfilled, but only in Tamil Nadu, the implementation of the old pension scheme has been fruitless, which has caused dissatisfaction and disappointment among the government employees.

Where did you go to mother? Karunas, who came to support DMK, attacked Edappadi! Where did you go? Karunas, who came to support DMK, attacked Edappadi!

Therefore, I urge the Tamil Nadu government to immediately announce the policy decision to cancel the new pension scheme for government employees without further delay and re-implement the old pension scheme,” he said.
