BJP Tamil Nadu state president Annamalai addressed the media regarding the “One Nation, One Election” bill and made the following statements:
- Some individuals are misinterpreting and twisting facts about the One Nation, One Election proposal.
- There are no issues for anyone with this bill, whether they are part of the ruling or opposition parties.
- Implementing One Nation, One Election will bring significant economic benefits to the country.
- The proposal will be implemented after 2029 in line with the parliamentary term.
- The first four elections in India were conducted simultaneously under the One Nation, One Election system.
- It was only due to Congress-led governments dissolving assemblies that this system was disrupted and delayed.
On Alliances:
When questioned about an alliance with AIADMK, Annamalai stated:
- The time and circumstances will determine the decision.
- He did not deny the possibility of an alliance, emphasizing that the BJP already has a strong alliance network.
Annamalai’s remarks reflect the BJP’s stance on the One Nation, One Election initiative, highlighting its economic advantages and addressing concerns raised by opposition parties.
