The case filed on behalf of AIADMK candidate Ramu against the victory of DMK general secretary Thuraimurugan in Katpadi constituency has caused a stir in the political arena.
DMK general secretary Duraimurugan contested from Katpadi constituency on behalf of the DMK in the recent assembly elections. After a long tug he won. He is currently the Minister of Irrigation and Mineral Resources in the DMK Government.
In this situation, AIADMK candidate V. Ramu, who contested against Thuraimurugan, lost by a margin of 745 votes. They were in the lead shifting from the beginning to the end of the polls, meanwhile Thuraimurugan received 52,526 votes. AIADMK candidate Ramu polled 51,087 votes.
In this situation, AIADMK candidate V. Ramu is pursuing an election case following the victory of Thuraimurugan. In the petition filed by Ramu in this regard, the eligible votes have been rejected. Electoral procedures were not followed properly.
He also called for a recount of postal votes and electronic voting. Currently, it has caused a stir in Tamil Nadu political circles. If a job is taken to court in this case, it will be seen as a major setback for the DMK government.
