The scenes of director Pa. Ranjith crying while holding the hands of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi Party leader Thol Thirumavalavan, who came to pay tribute to the body of Bahujan Samaj Party leader Armstrong, who was kept for post-mortem at the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Chennai, disturbed the viewers.
Bahujan Samad Party state president Armstrong was with his supporters near his house in Chennai’s Perambur area when a mob surrounded him on a two-wheeler and hacked him to death with a scythe. In this situation, Armstrong fell down.
The gang then fled. Armstrong was rushed to Apollo Hospital. The doctors said that he had already died there. Pa. Ranjith went to Apollo Hospital after hearing the news of Armstrong’s death.
Armstrong’s supporters came running screaming at the sight of him. Then Pa. Ranjit could not bear the grief, hit his head and cried. At this stage, Armstrong’s body was taken to Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital for post-mortem.
An autopsy was performed on Armstrong’s body in the morning after the body had been there overnight. At that time, Thirumavalavan, leader of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi of India, came to pay respects to Armstrong’s body. Then Pa. Ranjit also came there. Pa. Ranjith, who went with Thirumavalavan to see Armstrong’s face, held Thiruma’s hands and wept bitterly.
Since taking over as the state president of the Tamil Nadu Bahujan Samaj Party, Armstrong has been helping the education of many youths. Director Pa. Ranjith is one of those thousands of young people. He has worked with the Bahujan Samad Party since childhood.
It was Armstrong who explained Ambedkar to B. Ranjith. Armstrong is the reason why Ranjith boldly speaks the philosophies and principles of Periyar and Ambedkar in his films. It was Armstrong who gave Ranjith the title of revolutionary director. Director Pa. Ranjith considered Armstrong to be his strength.
