‘Pahalgam Avenged’: In Varanasi, PM Modi Offers Success Of Operation Sindoor To Lord Mahadev

India launched Operation Sindoor, followed by Operation Mahadev, in retaliation to the killing of 26 individuals in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday dedicated the success of Operation Sindoor, India’s counter-strike on terror bases in Pakistan, to Lord Mahadev.

India carried out Operation Sindoor, and later Operation Mahadev, in retaliation to the massacre of 26 civilians by The Resistance Front (TRF)—a Pakistan-backed terror outfit affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba—in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

“This is my first visit to Kashi after Operation Sindoor. In Pahalgam, 26 innocent people were brutally killed by terrorists. My heart was filled with grief. I had vowed to avenge the sindoor of our daughters, and with Mahadev’s blessings, that promise was fulfilled,” PM Modi said while addressing a public gathering in Varanasi.

“I offer the success of Operation Sindoor at the feet of Mahadev,” he added.

Under Operation Sindoor, Indian forces conducted targeted strikes on nine terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). In response, Pakistan launched drone and missile attacks on Indian positions, resulting in a three-day military escalation between the two nations.

During the Monsoon Session of Parliament, PM Modi stated that Pakistan’s retaliatory actions to India’s counter-terror operations exposed its direct involvement in state-backed terrorism.

Operation Mahadev

As part of Operation Mahadev, on 28 July, Indian security forces eliminated three Pakistani terrorists in the Lidwas forest area near Harwan, located on the outskirts of Srinagar.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the trio were responsible for the 22 April terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people.

Addressing the Lok Sabha, Shah revealed the identity of one of the slain militants as Suleiman, who masterminded the Pahalgam massacre.

The other two were identified as Afghan and Jibran—senior members of the Pakistan-based banned group Lashkar-e-Taiba.
