Parliament Monsoon Session Updates: PM Modi To Speak At NDA Parliamentary Party Meet Today

Parliament Monsoon Session Day 12, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha – 5th August Updates: Legislative activity continues to remain at a standstill in both Houses due to the ongoing deadlock over the Opposition’s demand for an immediate discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar, which led to large-scale protests on Monday.

Deputy Speaker Jagdambika Pal, who chaired the afternoon proceedings yesterday, pointed out that not a single piece of legislation had been passed since the Monsoon Session began.

This marks the third consecutive week of disrupted functioning in the Monsoon Session, which started on July 21.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the BJP-led NDA’s parliamentary party meeting — the first such meeting during the current Parliament session and the first one after a considerable gap.

This meeting is especially important as the Vice President election nomination process is slated to begin on August 7.

With a clear majority in the electoral college, the NDA’s candidate is likely to be elected unopposed. However, the alliance must declare its nominee by August 21, which is the last date for filing nominations and also the final day of the Monsoon Session.
