The Treasury Department has reported in the Chennai High Court that it intends to use modern technology to identify temple properties.
Radha Rajan, secretary of the Temple Worshipers’ Association, has filed a petition in the High Court seeking proper maintenance of the Treasury website and websites of major temples and providing all information on the websites.
The High Court, which heard the petition, had directed the temple to file a statement detailing the property. The case came up for hearing before Judge Anita Sumanth. Report by Charity Commissioner Kumarakuruparan: The work of the committee set up to identify the temple properties is underway. Due to a virus infection, this process is slow.
Due to the involvement of village administration officials in the epidemic and the shortage of ‘surveyors’, it is time to complete the work. Therefore, we are going to use modern technology to measure and identify the temple properties.
We plan to set up a geo-information system using the technique. Once a year or two, the information can be updated. With the use of modern technology, errors will be reduced; Accurate details are available. The work will be completed expeditiously. Therefore, it is necessary to accept the handling of this technology and issue the appropriate order, the report said.
After recording the report, the judge adjourned the hearing to July 21.
