PM Holds Talks With Maldivian Vice President, Other Leaders In Male
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to take part in the Maldives’ Independence Day festivities today as the chief guest. He is on a two-day official visit to the island country, following an invitation from President Mohamed Muizzu.
The Prime Minister landed in the Maldives shortly after his historic trip to the United Kingdom, during which India finalized a Free Trade Agreement. Upon his arrival in the island nation, PM Modi held one-on-one discussions with President Muizzu, covering a variety of subjects including defence cooperation and trade ties.
On the second day of his visit, the Prime Minister has a packed agenda—beginning with meetings with senior Maldivian officials, followed by an interaction with members of the Indian diaspora, and finally attending the Maldives’ Independence Day celebrations.
